Employment Solutions Services
The DSAJ’s Employment Solutions Services provides employment services to adults with Down syndrome.
The DSAJ’s Employment Solutions services not only help promote strength, inclusion, and community in the Jacksonville area by encouraging individuals with Down Syndrome to gain successful employment. This program also gives adults with Down syndrome the skills and confidence they need to become active members in our city, which in turn can build strong and healthy communities.
This means clients can receive one on one job coaching, complete on the Job trainings, and supported employment services.
What is On The Job Training?
On-the-job training, also known as an OJT, is a hands-on method of teaching the skills,
knowledge and competencies needed for an individual to successfully perform a specific job
within the workplace. Clients learn in a real, or simulated, working environment where they
practice job duties with guidance from a job coach, supervisor, or another experienced employee.
What are Supported Employment Services?
Supported Employment Services assist youth or adults with Down syndrome obtain and maintain
competitive, integrated employment. Services are individualized and consistent with the unique
strengths, abilities, interests, and informed choice of the individual to help them succeed.

Work for pay at the same rate as other employees.
Promotes social integration, productivity and maximum use of a person’s skills and abilities.
Takes place in an integrated work setting.
Includes job coaching provided by the Director of Employment after placement on the job.
